Words John Greenleaf Whittler, adapted Sadler / Music Hubert Parry, arr Sadler

SMABari - Accompanied

Unlimited licence

Parry named his beautiful melody for Dear Lord and Father of mankind, Repton. The text has been reworked, retaining the essence of the ways and means to seek calm and repose in our hurly-burly lives, making it just as user friendly for community and high school choirs, as for church choirs, who may like to explore this simple but effective version of such a much loved hymn.

A powerful descant first with the sopranos and then with a solo voice over the hummed (but easy) lush harmony, concludes the song.
