Kathryn Sadler studied Voice at Trinity College, London and Music Education at Surrey University and continued her studies in Australia at the Victorian College of the Arts, majoring in Opera and Music Theatre. As the inaugural recipient of the prestigious Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust scholarship, Kate completed Advanced Choral Conducting with Dr Doreen Rao at the University of Toronto. She is also a Certified Master Teacher - Estill Voice International. She has worked in music theatre, TV and cabaret, sung on the recital platform and performed with most of Australia’s opera companies.
Kate has had rich experience conducting vocal groups and leading voice and choral masterclasses. In this capacity she has a national and international profile working with many pre-eminent choirs, Tertiary institutions and High schools. She founded the prize winning Mac.Robertson Chamber Voices; was Choral Director at Melbourne Girls Grammar School and directed Cantabella of Canterbury, including the much praised album, 'Gorgeous Girls.' She has conducted ensembles at Melbourne University and the Victorian College of the Arts. Kate currently directs Sounds of Singing.
For many years Kate directed the VoxSynergy Vocal Program at Melbourne Youth Music. The Program’s senior group were State Finalists for ABC Classic FM’s “Choir of the Year” and nationally acclaimed for their performances as finalists in Channel 7’s “Battle of the Choirs”. In association with the ABC, VoxSynergy produced a CD – “You’re the Voice.” Kate’s singers are the inspiration for her many arrangements and published original compositions (KateSongs).
Based in the heart of Melbourne's CBD at Wesley Church, Lonsdale St, Kate's private VoiceArt sessions offer vocal and artistic guidance to singers, choral directors and music teachers. She also provides a mentorship program for training voice teachers aspiring to accreditation.
