A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY

Sounds of Singing (previously Sounds of Southgate)

A unique opportunity exists for five enthusiastic, hardworking and dedicated singers (18-28 years of age) to learn from eminent master voice teacher, composer and choral expert Kate Sadler in the practical setting of the Sounds of Singing.

The Sounds of Singing Scholarship includes:
  • 32 weeks membership to Sounds of Singing
  • 8 complimentary 1-1 singing lessons with Kate (45 minutes each)
  • Kate's Voice Preparation Kit (ebook)
  • learning vocal and musical skills in a practical, fun and engaging setting
  • the opportunity to perform auditioned solos, both within the ensemble items, or as a featured soloist
  • the opportunity to participate in the periodic Sounds of Singing  7/11 solo workshop (11 minute mini workshop, mid rehearsal at 7pm)
  • singing original KateSongs and other exciting music from around the globe and from all eras of history
  • the opportunity to perform at Kate's Monday night Performance Skills class or attend as an Observer and stay on for Question Time
  • the opportunity to work with Kate and Jennifer (accompanist) in a Monday night SongWorks session

How do I get on board?

Applicants will be selected based on an audition and their willingness to commit to studying under Kate Sadler and commitment to diligent attendance at Tuesday rehearsals and lessons. It is also highly recommended that scholars take up the opportunities of attending Monday night VoiceArt classes.

Applicants need to audition via mp3 recordings where you will:
  1. Demonstrate your full vocal range by singing a scale
  2. Sing any part (but not the tune) of Kate's arrangement of Swing Low Sweet Chariot A Cappella found here
  3. Sing your party piece which shows off your vocal range, colour, dramatic expression and musicianship
